Every VowForever card has a public link on the VowForever address. If you own a domain, you can connect it so your card links use your own address instead, such as cards.minhandlan.com, which makes the link feel like a small wedding website of your own. Custom domains are part of the Premium plan, which includes one connected domain.
Quick summary
- Where: open /dashboard/domains from your dashboard.
- Who: Premium accounts, one domain per account. Free and Basic show an upgrade option instead.
- Setup: add your domain, create two DNS records at your domain provider (a CNAME and a TXT), then verify.
- Result: cards open at your-domain/your-card-link, and you can make your domain the default for new share links.
- Old links: links you already sent on the VowForever address keep opening the card.
Default domain and custom domain
The Domains page has two parts. The Default domain block shows which address your card links use; until you verify your own domain, every link uses the VowForever address. The Your domains block is where you connect a domain you own. Once it is verified, you can choose it under Use this domain for new share links, and it is marked as Default.
Before you start
- Buy a domain from any registrar. VowForever does not sell domains.
- Make sure you can edit its DNS records.
- Use a subdomain such as cards.yournames.com. Subdomains are the simplest to point with a CNAME record, and your main domain stays free for anything else.
Connecting your domain in four steps
Step 1: Add the domain
Go to /dashboard/domains, add a domain and type the domain name, for example cards.yournames.com. The DNS instructions appear straight away.
Step 2: Add the two DNS records
Sign in to your domain provider's DNS settings and add the two records shown, using the copy buttons to avoid typos:
- CNAME: points your domain to VowForever and sends visitors of your domain to your cards.
- TXT: a record named _vowforever on your domain whose value starts with vowforever-verify=. It proves you own the domain. Keep it in place after verifying.
Some providers add your domain to the record name automatically. If yours does, enter only the part before it, for example _vowforever.
Step 3: Verify
DNS changes take from a few minutes up to a few hours to appear. Use the check button on your domain; while records are missing, the domain shows Waiting for DNS, and if the TXT value does not match, the message tells you to copy it exactly as shown. Ownership is confirmed by the TXT record. Some DNS hosts flatten CNAMEs on a root domain, so a CNAME that does not show up is reported but does not block verification.
Step 4: Use it for your links
Once verified, the domain shows Cards open at your-domain/your-card-link. Set it as default so new share links, QR codes and personal guest links use your address.
Old links, QR codes and guest links
- Links already sent: the VowForever address keeps working, so nothing you shared breaks.
- New links follow the default: share links, QR codes and guest links copied after the switch use your domain.
- Decide before printing: choose your domain before printing QR codes on paper cards or sending links in bulk. Codes printed earlier still work, they just show the VowForever address.
- Removing the domain: links on your own domain stop working once you remove it from VowForever or delete the DNS records, so do not remove it while guests still use those links.
Frequently asked questions
Can other people use my domain for their cards?
No. Your domain is connected to your account and opens your cards.
I don't have a domain. Do I need one?
Not at all. Every card works on the VowForever address on every plan, with a custom link you choose in the editor. A custom domain is an optional extra.
Can I connect more than one domain?
Premium includes one custom domain. Remove the current one to add another. Compare plans at /pricing.
