In the final week before a wedding, many couples find their phones ringing constantly. “Which way is the restaurant?” “What floor is the hall on?” “Something came up, can I still come?” Two features on a digital invitation take care of most of these calls: a map for directions and an RSVP form for replies.
What RSVP means and why it helps
RSVP comes from the French “répondez s'il vous plaît”, meaning “please reply”. It is standard at weddings and saves couples from estimating numbers from experience.
- An accurate head count: you know who is coming, who cannot and who has not answered, so you book enough tables without paying for empty ones.
- Special requests: the VowForever RSVP form lets guests say how many people are coming with them and add a note, such as being vegetarian or bringing two small children.
- Early wishes: guests can also leave a message in the wishes feed on your card, which you can read at /dashboard/messages.
A map that guides guests door to door
- One tap to directions: the map widget embeds Google Maps, so guests can start navigation from wherever they are.
- No mix-ups: many restaurants have similar names or several branches; a pinned location sends guests to the right one.
- Easy recognition: Google Maps shows photos of the venue, so guests recognise the entrance as they arrive.
Setting them up in VowForever
The RSVP form
- In the editor, insert the RSVP widget into a section near the end of your card.
- Add a line above it with your reply deadline.
- Publish, submit a test reply and check that it appears at /dashboard/rsvp.
- Delete the test reply so your counts stay accurate.
The map
- Look up the venue in Google Maps and check that the pin sits on the guest entrance.
- Insert the map widget and enter the venue address or location.
- Open the published card on a phone and tap the map to confirm it opens the right place.

Getting more guests to reply
- Write a warm prompt above the form: “Your presence means the world to us. Please let us know by the 20th so we can welcome you properly.”
- Mention it when you share: “Tap RSVP on the card to tell us how many of you are coming.”
- Send personalized links from your guest list, so each guest sees their own name and their reply is matched to them.
- About a week before your deadline, message anyone still marked Pending with a short, friendly reminder.
Using the replies
- Export: use Export CSV at /dashboard/rsvp to send a clean list to your venue for tables and menus.
- Seating: sort replies into family, friends and colleagues to plan the room.
- Thanks: after the wedding, the same list tells you exactly who came, so your thank-you messages reach everyone.
Technology should take worry off your plate. A map and an RSVP form show guests you have thought of them, and they give you back the quiet week you deserve before the wedding.
